o.o  On another note, that animation didn't get into the Trailer.  .-.  I guess it wasn't polished enough to outshine the person who was ranked number 2 on that section.  I have 2 other animations and probably 2 more in before Phase 2 submissions are over, so I might still have a chance to wind up in the trailer/game.

New goal:  Win the Jury's hearts.  <3  ~___~  Wish me luck!!

Yeaaap, Phase One voting is closed now.  ^_^  A huge thank you for all the people who helped vote 5 stars on my animation shot.  I greatly appreciate all the support and by the time voting locked down, I was in the lead for the overall trailer at 3.87 <3.

There were a few problems though, in fact.  Phase 1 voting glitched so badly on Sunday that they extended it to Monday.  Then it glitched on Monday and they moved it to Tuesday.  And then last night, it glitched up again a few hours before "this week"'s contest was over, so I was thinking they were going to once again move it to Wednesday at midnight.  To my surprise, they just closed it and said that they can't stretch the deadline any more.  So some people were unhappy that they couldn't get any more votes in and I dont blame them.  

What I hope though is that they still announce the winners for this week since I've asked just about everybody I know and anyone who could help to vote 5 stars on my submission.  I know that sounds mean to the other competitors, but I've literally lost tons of sleep IMing and emailing people (some I haven't talked to for YEARS), as well as asking friends, family, even my room mate, to help vote and get their friends or anyone they knew to vote 5 stars for me as well.

And thanks to everyone who did, it certainly kept my points from dropping too far by those who tried downvoting my submission.

So if they dont count this one.  I'll be really sad.  I poured a lot of effort into that and I'm really hoping I can win.  

On another note, I also submitted a second animation for Phase 2 that's still open.  It's considerably shorter than the last one because it's a lady blowing imaginary ice breath at people.  I'm probably not going to promote this as much, but 5 stars would be very helpful...

Mom's friend is raising a chicken, he mentioned that he's heading out of town for a few days, so they were going to get rid of it before he left since his wife was afraid of the little guy.  So mom jumped in and said that we were willing to take care of the chicken while they were away.  The reason why they were planning on doing that was because they were trying to make the chicken into medicine.  If it's a rooster (and we're still not sure if it is), on the third day after it crows, they're supposed to kill it.  .___.'  This is why I hope it isn't a rooster.

Anywho!  Here I am, Monday afternoon, munching on a late lunch while mom was getting to leave to go somewhere when she remembered something and headed for the porch.  Then she said "Did you check to see if the chicken has food yet?"

And I basically lost my grip on my loaf of bread and went "HAAAAAAAH?!"

So yes, there is a chicken in our back porch.  And I've gotten into a habit of taking the guy out for walks in our backyard.  s/he seems to enjoy her/himself back there, and I've taken a liking to her/him.

Also, I named it Rudy the Cucco.  Since Rudy sounds more of a generic Male/Female name?  (I'll give the guy a better name when I find out what gender it is)

I've tried figuring out if it's male or female.  But I can't tell how large the waddle and the comb are supposed to be on roosters and hens, however it is a pretty nice bright red.  Also, I checked for spurs to see if it was male, but there's a small bump where it's supposed to be and I dont know if hens have the bump there or if it's really a rooster with his spurs removed when it was little.  .___.  

Also, I've come to realize that chickens really really REALLY stink.

And they eat a lot.  Although we're trying to figure out what sort of diet to give the guy, so far we're feeding it corn, fresh greens, pellets (since I have parrots), some seeds (?), cooked rice, bits of bread, and grass (since it was nipping on some in the back yard, so hey, what the heck).  I've checked the internet for a chicken's diet, but any good suggestions would be nice.  In the meantime, the daily walks outside in the backyard should help make up for whatever diet it's missing for now.  Maybe after a few weeks or so it'll either lay an egg or the family that owns this guy decides they dont want to kill it and give it to someone else to raise like a normal chicken.

Oh geez.  It's been a long while since I posted on here.  Happy New Year to everyone..  :3  Got any New Year's Resolutions?  I have three:  Work on Website/demo reel, submit application to animation industries, and post more drawings on here.  So far I've been lurking and checking my mailboxes.

Annyway, I've graduated.  Which is not that big of a deal, really.  What it means is that I'm left with nothing better to do than to go job hunting while doing a little bit of part time job and freelancing as an artist.  I'm probably planning on heading diving back into school and going over to FIEA for a bit and see if I can get a shiny new diploma in time for the economy to go back up.  (Here's hoping. D; )

In the meantime though, I think I should start posting up all the doodles that I've done and sort of left there in my computer.  Starting with my silly winged unicorn ...>_>'

On a side note:  There's a contest on facebook called Mass Animation.  They're pairing up with DC Online Universe to make a trailer as well as some game animation for the new game that's coming out and they need random animators to come and animate shots.  There's a popular vote contest going on at the end of every Sunday and a jury vote to be put in the actual trailer/game.  Although I'm not too sure what the jury vote award is, the popular vote gets a spiffy new laptop for the trailer animation and a pair of sunglasses for the game animation and winners are announced at the end of every Sunday at Midnight.

.-.  Safe to say, I animated a shot as well and submitted it not long ago.  It's just a simple one second thumbs up for the game animation, but I'm putting my hopes in winning something while I scramble to animate some other animations.

Now I don't know how much people will like my thumbs up animation, even though it looks relatively decent compared to the other competitors that chose the same shot, but I doubt I'll get many 5 stars against the people who are voting down to gain the upper hand on popularity vote purposes.

Which is why, to my dear devART watchers and facebook users, I need your help.

I need people to vote 5 stars on my submission.  The more people the better so I can at least buffer the insane amount of point loss I'll be getting by Sunday.  >_<  If you can get your friends to help with voting 5 stars, I would be eternally grateful.  

So if you can please take some time to help boost my score before the upcoming D-Day, then that would be awesome.

Argh.  I haven't updated this journal for a year and a half now.  Yeesh.  

So lets see..*cracks knuckles*

Senior year in College.  I'm graduating at the end of Spring Semester.  D:  BUT I DONT WANNA LEAAAAAAVE.  I seriously love being in Visual Language.  My classmates are awesome and I feel totally at home in our building downtown.  Junior year was a blast there, even though it was literally boot camp.  I can't recall how many late nights I had there, but it was still awesome to the max.

We are just about finished with our senior film, "Atlas' Revenge".  Except in the previous journal, I said they were tables and chairs.  But when we got back after winter break Junior year, Jim Story, our former director (our new director is a graduate named Brad - He's an interesting guy..:3) changed it to a story of a fish in a fish tank meeting a plastic vacuum fish [dubbed Robofish] and all the chaos that happens afterwords.  We were grouped into character designs for our fish named Atlas, and Robofish and any gags going into story boarding.  :3  I got to help out designing the Robofish and the final drawing was done by Brice in our team.  

Ironically I also got to help out modeling Robofish.  But what I really did in there was UV texture mapping:  skinning the blasted model and evening the spaces so they don't look distorted when you put on the skin and texture.  I can't actually say that it would be fun for anyone to do, but I like it.  Although I think I'm a bit masochistic for liking long and tedious things.

The rest of the time, I was animating the film.  Great stuff.  I've also gotten a chance to render/composite and fool around with time warp to motion blur some stuff too.

We sent our nearly completed film to the Siggraph festival.  Although yesterday we just found out that we didn't make it.  I guess it was tough this year since there were over 700 entries that were in there and we were still in the middle of fixing a bunch of shots when we sent it.  

Now that we have time, we've been finishing up.  A bunch of stuff has been fixed since we we sent it.  It looks a ton better.

Currently we're just working on projects and demo reels as well as polishing up our film.  :3  

I still don't want to leave.  D; That means I need to look for a job or see if I can get a graduate degree..  I hear a couple of buddies are attempting Rhythm and Hues as well as Pixar and Disney.  Maybe I should look for something like that too.  :3  But good luck to them..!



On a bit of a worrisome note:
My little parrot, Rachel, is about 14 years old and has developed a cataract in her left eye.  Her right eye appears to be doing the same, but it's nowhere as bad as her left.  Since she's a Quaker parrot and therefore pretty small, surgery will be kinda hard on her.  D:  And there's no type of medicine to stop the cataract or get rid of it.  

On the brighter side, she's perfectly healthy and enjoys mocking people and chatting a garbled mess to overlap anyone's conversation.  I love her just as much as I love Quaker and I just don't want her world to go dark.  She's probably been through a lot before we got her at 4 years old, her feathers were mostly plucked and she was timid and hissy towards anyone getting near her.  She's been doing so much better now, even though her feathers probably wont ever grow back.  D:   The only thing I can really hope is that either her cataracts don't wind up impairing her vision too much, or that someone finds a safe medicine for birds that can shrink cataracts.

On the brighter side, from what the vet told me, she's a healthy and content old biddy with a bit of arthritis.  I wish those 50+ dollars could have at least given her a way to see better instead of giving her a standard checkup and telling me something that I already knew.

Well lets see.  My fall semester ended over at the DM building.  Even though I had tons of homework for those last few weeks, I'm having oodles of fun and I absolutely love my professors there.  My classmates are interesting to hang around as well.  I'm a little sad though because I still can't seem to remember all their names yet.  D:  I think that might be important to remember since I'll be working with them for the next year and a half.

Well those funny structure projects that I complained about back in August were minor successes.  They actually held the brick!  ....Although they were completely off balance for the most part.  D<  I'm so glad I got an A in that class.  It wasn't exactly hard, but it was more on the time consuming/tedious side.  Especially when you have several things due that day.

I've also found out that my fortes are in the frame by frame animation area(Paper animations!).  Storytelling is a maybe.  Sculpting out the environments and making them fit in the world is a little bit on the 'meh' side, and I've realized that certain programs such as Maya and Shake don't work well with me.  But hey, I've actually learned a lot this year.  ^_^  So I'm happy.

OH!  Our class is on pre-production for a new 3-D animation that we're planning on doing for the rest of our time there.  It's called "Atlas's Revenge", and it's about a little coffee table (We've dubbed Atlas), his giant centerpiece vase (It looks like a globe), and a bunch of mean stools.  We already have the music down for it (well, the music was pre-made, so we have a set amount of time for the animation already.), and the storyboard ideas mostly fleshed out.    From what I've heard, Spring semester we're learning how to rig 3D models and animate with them (Instead of spinning them around in Maya. D:  ).

.....Problem is, I've also heard that spring semester in Junior year is friggin hard.  D:  Also found out that I'm gonna be over there until past dark.  Not looking forward to it since the road connecting to Livingston is Parramore.

For those people who don't know:  Parramore is one of the most dangerous streets in Orlando.  Even though the crime is dropping a bit down there now that they've placed more police officers in that area, there's still a lot of murders/robberies/car thefts/drug operations.  Especially with that shooting of the delivery guy a few weeks ago.  So I'm not really for staying there past dark.  But hey, at least there's safety in numbers..D:

Speaking of.  I'm still not completely over my paranoia from that burglary back in July.  D:  I don't think I'll ever be rid of it.  D<  If there's noises outside my window, I have this tendency to peek through and check to see if it's alright.  Truthfully, I don't think I feel safe in this neighborhood anymore...>__<'  I wish the police were a lot more concerned about our area.  Heck, I wish this place was like it was back in the day when little kids could screw around until dark and everybody was so friggin polite.

D:  *sigh*  those were the good times...*feels like an old fart*

ANYWAY.  Off that depressing topic.

There's a bunch of stray cats in my backyard!!!  D:  So far I've counted 4, I think.  The one I've seen most often is a kitty I've dubbed "Lady".  Except I don't know if it's a girl or a boy.  >_>''  For now, I think it's a girl.  D:  I like the kitty too.  She's just loves to be petted.  If someone is nearby, she'll brush up against whatever is closest to her or roll around in the dirt as if someone was petting her.  Her meow is like a siren though..D: and it's really loud.  Gosh I've never seen such a needy cat like her before.  

Mom wont let me keep her though.  Although she has wandered into the house once already (and mom shooed her out..XD  That's what she gets for leaving the porch door open.) and I'm basically feeding her and all the other kitties outside.  Oh well.

Starting up doodling again.  Trying to get a grasp of an art style that doesn't look too anime and failing miserably at achieving that goal..D: I've also had a friend ask for me to make a design for security shirts that these guys would be wearing for AFO.  I'm thinking 'Security Ninjas', but I can't think of a good slogan to put on the back.

Ah yes.  Fuu is in need of his Kiriban picture that has been long due.  That will be up shortly now that I have time to draw.  Unfortunately since I'm dallying around with art styles, the picture might look wonky.  (D:  Sorry Fuu!!)

I'll also put up my Flash Animation. when I've figured out how to do scripting for the buttons and adding a loading bar as well.

Christmas Shopping is carving a hole into my wallet.  o.o  But I don't mind since most of the money I'm using is birthday money that my friends sent me.  >_>'  Did I mention I turned 21 a while ago?  I suppose not.  Hee.  It's nothing major though, since I refuse to drink alcohol.

I finally got myself a new DVD drive and I've actually managed to dismantle my computer, install the drive, then put the thing back together without any major problems..  D:  My computer hasn't blown up so far, so I guess I'm in the clear for now.....I think...*warily glances at her computer*

The reason why I've even decided to do something like this is because of Neverwinter Nights 2 Expansion, Mask of the Betrayer.  Pfft.  I bought it for my birthday only to find that it was a PC DVD-ROM.  Lovely.  I also believe it was SOLELY for DVD as well.  D:  But hey, Phantom Hourglass occupied my time so it wasn't a major loss.  And both of them are good games.  =___=  *just beat the expansion and is feeling content about the romance option she chose*  I kinda wanna do more fan art.  But I really should do some original work.

School started a week ago and I wind up getting bombarded with projects from every one of my classes.  Two assignments in one of them.....x_o  The most crazy one involves one 22x28 poster board and making it into a 30'' tower that is able to hold a brick.(9 lbs?)

D:  I hope mine holds up the brick...its 32'' and it looks pretty sturdy......ehh.

o_O  I know things are gonna be crazy from here on out.  But hey..XD  That's Digital Media for ya...*sweatdrops*

Oh..D:  And we get to design and make our own Pine Box Derby Car in Maya.  So far, its just the preliminary designs that are due Wednesday and I've randomly sketched out my design and its....a Jack Skellington car.  It looks kinda weird.  Maybe if I dumb it down a bit or something....or not make it look scribbly.

I'm not too good at Maya.  But I've learned a freaking amount of things to do on that program just from this afternoon's class..x_o

XD  I also got to do cartoon expressions and animate a bouncing ball so far..XD  Its kinda fun.  D:  It just takes time.

We had a break time and there was this 2nd year DM student that came in and asked if any of us wanted a kitty.  D:  He had 3 free kitties.  One was a calico, another black and white stripes, and I think the third was a solid black...x___X  The pictures were so adorable.   

Except, I sensed impending doom if I adopted a kitten without mom's consent.  She's not much of a animal person and she can hardly tolerate my two flying attack parrots...XD

._.  Yeah...she'd totally kill me...-=_=-  *sigh*  Ah well.

o.o  Locks are happily installed and annoying my mom.  XD  I have no problem with them.  They remind me of my apartment days.
